Hanada Ichiro (english order: Ichiro Hanada) is the central character that the show is named after (boy Hanada). He is a hyperactive boisterous young boy obsessed with getting a color television. His best friend is a boy named Souta.
One Saturday afternoon, he tried to kill bumblebee came into house with his bat and smashed the black-and-white television in the process. He is soon chased by his furious mother and stole someone's bicycle trying to run away. His recklessness riding a bike downhill ends up getting him injured in an accident. The ramifications of this injury create interesting situations for him to meet new friends.
